Astrophytum myriostigmaAstrophytum myriostigma The Bishop's Cap cactus. One of the most popular of all small cacti, this species is thornless. It is covered in white felt. Flowers bright yellow and produced throughout the summer. This is the normal, 5 ribbed, form of the species. Easy to grow, just give normal cactus care. Protect from frost. Protect from frost (it isn't as frost tolerant as the better known Ferocactus species)

Can grow year round but is more of a cool season grower and often goes dormant in summer

Cut back on water in the winter when it is mostly dormant

It has compact upright leaves covered in white and black prickles

Unlike the Bishop's Cap this species forms numerous yellow spines
