Joseph Roty, Charmes Chambertin Tres Vv(from a . 16 ha parcel in Charmes proper of vines planted in 1885 that have never been pulled up though Roty points out that all those that have died over the years have been replanted). An elegant, pure and broad ranging nose is composed of very fresh, cool and airy aromas of both red and dark currant, spice and earth scents where the wood treatment is admirably subtle if again not invisible. There is a lovely mouth feel to the attractively intense

plum and spicy oak

but one with detail and class

and the winter following the bottling (it was bottled in May 2017 at the same time as the Laurel) is when they tend to show closed

which shows excellent clarity and length

a decision that has paid off beautifully

This is also very clearly built-to-age and I wouldn’t dream of touching a bottle for at least 10 years and it should easily reward 20

Shows serious concentration and extract and finishes sappy and very long

It's a totally brilliant wine bristling with energy

grainy backbone of very ripe tannins and tons of vivacity

fullness and cheerful generosity of fruit
