SOLD……An Avery style guitar shaped novelty brass needle case. 1878An unusual novelty needle packet case made in the form of a guitar. It is stamped on the back 'Baggallay, Westall & Spence'. There is the diamond registration logo plus a number on the neck no. 628. 12cm long 4. 75 inches The example on the Coulthart site dates the patent to August 1878. Baggalay, Westall & Spence were Avery's agents in London. In excellent condition but with tarnish. NB. The hinge has a bent pin through the lugs rather than a narrow

The pastes are various sizes and all appear to be original

The patterned paper is in red

An interesting steel hook mounted in a bone handle which is spirally inscribed in the manner of a lace bobbin

The leather insert in the lid is marked in gold-

The four Victorian coins are a silver three penny bit

The woven wicker work is neat and undamaged

The cushion is blue velvet and sits in a very slightly oval basket complete with a folding filigree handle
