SOLD....A super bead work and cross stitched needle case / book. c 1840A lovely needle case made of punched card and decorated with geometric beadwork and cross stitch. The pattern is the same on both sides but the colours of the beads are different. The decoration is on a small piece of punched card attached by tiny stitches to the backing card so as to not show the wrong side of the work on the inside of the finished case. Inside there is some cloth stuck with a few old needles. The ribbon ties are turquoise coloured

A set of six mother of pearl silk winders from a mid 19th century sewing box

In excellent condition - no damage to the pearl but there is very minor chipping to the edge of some of the bone reels which can be seen in the photos

Worsley was the last man to be publicly hanged at Bedford in 1868

Both have some rust but this could be cleaned off

Inside it is not a needle book as would be expected but has been fitted with a black sheet- the original sticking plaster

The gilt metal catch works well and the leather 'hinge' is sound

The needle cloth is a replacement but the very fine needles were taken from the sadly moth destroyed original cloth
