and Bolivia has arguably produced some the finest crystals of the species extant

sharpness and the fact that there are TWO distinct twinning habits on the same specimen

It’s amazing to me that you can see all sides of the “cogwheel” as it’s not buried into the Pyrite matrix

but the back and base are contacted where the piece separated from the pocket wall

The base of the Topaz crystal has an interesting slightly etched opening along its natural cleavage but managed to hold together

and it is often difficult to know where specimens are from because several mines in the area share the same vein system
