Victorian bog oak and wood bead necklaceA truly magnificent antique Victorian carved bog oak and wood bead necklace. Hand carved beads with the most intricate detailing, this was most likely a handmade piece. It features round black painted wooden beads intercepted by adjoined engraved disc beads, each with a fine border of gold wire which gives just a hint of glimmer. The necklace terminates at the bottom with a large heavily carved bead and it fastens to the back with a spring ring

The gold is warm and rich and the bangle has a push hinge fastener with a built in safety chain

some beads with wear commensurate with age and a few nibbles

one dog clip closes and opens loosely but holds well

Attached via the dog clip there is a Victorian gilt locket and a tassle charm suspended from a small length of chain
