Prehnite finger cast after AnhydriteA good miniature specimen with nice luster, gemminess and color. The reverse and underside of the specimen shows the hollow, striated cavities where the once preexisting Anhydrite once grew. The piece displays well without the aid of a base or clay. Despite a slight coating of a secondary clay mineral, this piece is still a worthwhile specimen of this now famous material. The Prospect Park Quarry is arguably the most famous mineral producing basalt

This piece came out in the early 1980’s when there was a large find of some superb Stibnites from this mine

and considering the great size

This piece came out around 1985

2 cm long (though the largest crystal is not 100% complete at the base)

as the mine is a large commercial production and virtually everything goes into the crusher

aesthetics and displayability are secondary only to the superb quality of the Barite crystals themselves

and those specimens don't hold a candle to the stunning specimens from the Sunnyside

but it's GEMMY with that amazingly rich glowing emerald green color

rather LARGE

The thin black internal "phantoms" flowing through the Brookites makes for a fantastic accent to these remarkable crystals

The terminations on the above specimen are very sharp and lustrous
