As I drove home

So one morning when thick fog combined with soft dawn light

I had driven past this forest a few times following the 2015 Samson Flat bushfires and each time was blown away by the colours of the charred pine needles

The light rays were dancing on the hills

A massive strike hit extremely close by but I was disappointed when I reviewed the image and found it was very overexposed

Nothing was taking my fancy and I thought it might be a waste of a day

The black burned trunks and vivid red needles contrasted perfectly with the fog

I decided to change my plans and found a little dirt road I hadn't been down in ages and this incredible scene lay before me
