SOLD........A turned bone parchment pricker. Mid 19thc. Lace making.A lace maker's parchment pricker inscribed with the name Thomas Manning in the style of spiral lace bobbins. Mid 19th century. In excellent condition with bright colouring. 11 cm overall length bone handle 7. 5cm Stock no. KS13b
The pattern of the pearl isn't unusual but the gilding on the steel is
A rare survival in excellent condition
They are the type that would have sat opposite a mother of pearl handled pair in a Palais Royal sewing box
The panels are a brick red colour with sparkles which catch the light
An interesting piece as the lens doesn't magnify but diminishes
No damage to the pearl and all the little loop fastenings are there
Lace making was a cottage industry using domestic animal bone and local soft woods
