A fan shaped Carnet de Bal with inset mirror. Mid 19th century.A rare survivor found in the bottom of a sewing box. This little decorative gilded card fan is a carnet de bal with each leaf stamped in gold with the title of a dance Walzer, Galopp, Polka, Francaise and Cotillion. It was waiting to be filled with the names of pre arranged dance partners but was never used. The little lead pencil is unmarked. It was probably made as a Christmas themed container for a ring or thimble

The round glass is in excellent condition and the stopper is present
