Tony Whitehead - Toroa/Gibson’s Albatross pair"Toroa Gibsons Albatross are a subspecies of Antipodean albatross (Diomediea antipodensis gibsoni) and are one of the Greater albatrosses. They are endemic to Aotearoa New Zealand and breed primarily on Adams Island in the Auckland Island group. Like the other great albatrosses, they are long lived and mate for life. Raising their single chick is a year long exercise involving both parents, which means they take a year off between breeding attempts.
