Rollin Pere et Fils, Pernand Ile Vergelesses Rouge(two thirds of this is from 65 year old vines and the other third is from 10+ year old vines, aged in 25% new oak). As is usually the case, this is the most elegant red in the Rollin range with a refined nose of various red berries, in particular currant, along with pungent stone notes though interestingly in 2010 there is a hint of the sauvage that is not usually present. The cool and ultra pure middle weight flavors benefit from wonderfully fine

and the wine shows perfumed

muscular and highly vibrant middle weight plus flavors exude a subtle minerality while delivering superb depth and persistence on the sappy

There is excellent richness to the concentrated and unusually powerful broad-scaled flavors that possess plenty of dry extract that saturates the palate on the wonderfully intense and solidly firm finish

A brooding and very reserved nose features aromas of dark berry fruit liqueur along with plenty of earth and underbrush nuances that are trimmed in just enough wood to notice

perhaps more so than normal—credit the vintage for that

this is a lush

layered range of ripe raspberry and yellow peach

This opulent effort will age but also be approachable young if desired
