A fine silver fruit knife. HM. Thomas Nowill. 1824.A lovely example of a Georgian all silver folding fruit knife. The silver cover is decorated in a typical style of the period flowers and scrolls. The spring cover has a stepped and cross hatched design. The blade is stamped for TN ( Thomas Nowill ) and hall marked for 1824. In excellent condition no damage and the spring is in perfect condition. The hall mark is easily readable but slightly mis struck losing the bottom edge. 8cm closed 14cm open

Unmarked but likely to be early Worcester c1860

The silver wing nut unscrews to release the lid and inside is the opening for the well

It is in good condition with no cracks or chips just some scratches in the finish and a little fading of the print on the front

The gilt metal catch works well and the leather 'hinge' is sound

The handles are embossed unmarked silver and the blades steel

The base metal parts had been thrown away so I had the steel bars put in to make them usable for those interested in historical reenactments
