Thomas Haines

Thomas HainesWith his father, Haines was proprietor of Tom's Coffee House in Great Russell Street, Covent Garden. Catalogued since 1926 as the work of Charles Grignion the elder (1716 1810), an engraver, but this is presumably a confusion with the painter, Charles Grignion the younger. To judge by the costume this work may be dated c. 1775 80.
