Sylvain Cathiard, Bourgogne Rouge(from a parcel of vines that are in Flagey opposite Clos de Vougeot). Mild reduction pushes the underlying fruit to the background but I doubt that it will persist. The sleek, cool and unusually refined middle weight flavors deliver outstanding depth and length for the genre. This utterly delicious yet serious effort is highly recommended. (87 89) 2018+

The Lazzarito is still the Barolo that spends the longest number of months in French oak following the malolactic fermentation

Beautiful on the nose

pure bouquet with blackberry

Barroso and San Cristobal and contain some 2% other varieties

gentle grip with a persistent tarry finish that suggests that it needs more bottle age

it should be an enjoyable white Bordeaux to drink over the next 10-12 years

The 2008s show a work in progress as Conterno only had control of the vineyard for a few months that year

There are also understated marmalade notes with a suggestion of crème brûlée furnishing the weighty finish that goes on and on
