It has a shield shaped face with no engraving so could be personalised if desired, an unusual find on such an early signet, mid Victorian era, these have usually been monogrammed. It has chunky raised deeply engraved shoulders. It has a wide smooth polished 18ct gold band, the ring has both rose and yellow gold tones to it but is mostly finished in yellow

this has been monogrammed on both sides for Wisbech Grammar School

The stone takes centre stage and stands like a golden crown on the slim gold band

Could also be used as a shaker locket but the beetle and flower are original to the piece and I think they make for a wonderfully interesting theme for the locket

ear wires later addition and marks to the jet can be seen where these have been fitted

this would make a most memorable gift someone special or a real treat for yourself

it tests as sterling silver

The rubies have a deep red pink hue and are cut in a heart shape

each link stamped with the lion passant for sterling silver and makers mark
