This is a really cool crystal. Lithium niobate its known for its incredible brilliance and fire, and when paired with a pink base color it makes a stunning gem. These weren't grown for that reason though Er: LN is an emerging laser crystal, with thin wafers used for on chip lasers. One of our partners told us they were going to start growing this

lab alexandrite is very uncommon and difficult to get even for us

so you won't see any fluorescence under longwave UV (though the pale green/white under shortwave is still present)

It frankly makes pure

a 40-year-old failed experimental laser garnet from the Soviet Union

Some have bubble inclusions

Today it is primarily grown as a growth substrate

Some also have cracks - we have photographed each piece both frontlit and backlit to help see what you're dealing with
