Vintage Sterling Silver Locket NecklaceStunning vintage sterling silver locket necklace. This necklace has beautiful fine etched design on the front of the piece and a plain back where four hallmarks lie. The first mark 'DGH' indicates the markers mark. The anchor, lion and script 'e' indicate the piece was made in Birmingham, England in 1954, the piece hangs 18 inches stirling silver chain. This piece is in excellent vintage condition and measures 2. 5cm in diameter.

The outer stones are faceted garnets and the stones are set in garnet gold a lower grade gold used in this type of Victorian garnet jewellery

The stones were used in many different designs of jewellery including brooches

fastened with a bolt ring clasp

The necklace fastens with a gold tone ornate push clasp

throughout the ages it has been mistaken for gold and it also known as Fool's Gold
