Hematite after Goethite

Hematite after GoethiteOne of the few specimens of this material that Ive encountered. This piece is essentially a pseudomorph of one iron oxide replacing another (i. e., Hematite and Goethite). This foliated group of good sized crystals is an excellent representation of a material that is rarely available on the market. This is a rare color for Tourmaline

caterpillar (Lepidoptera larva)

This specimen features a group of sharp

or perhaps more appropriately

usually less than 1 cm

with an undamaged termination and superior luster on all faces

which grades into the classic Himalaya bubblegum pink and gives way to a thin “straw” colored area

not unlike Tourmalines I’ve seen from Elba Island

A soft greenish-grey colored prismatic crystal of Amazonite associated with a white "rosette" of Cleavelandite on the side

with a compressed octahedral form
