An embroidered red woollen pin cushion. c1840An interesting red pin cushion nicely embroidered in black. It is made from old scarlet woollen fabric probably from a uniform. Mid 19th century. The red fabric is worn but the embroidery is in good condition. 5 x 4 x 1. 5cm Stock no. LQ46

A well made little pot with an inlaid lid containing tiny old beads

The hinged one has a piece of sprung glass in the lid which is the stopper whilst the screw lid has a piece of cork and this section was for smelling salts

In good condition- the varnished finish is the original and so does show wear in places

The engraving includes a monogram SCM

It has a leather spine and inside it is lined with a pink patterned paper trimmed with gold paper and has cloth leaves for loose needles

The back of the thimble is painted with a red flower- cherry blossom

The hall marks date it to Chester 1902 possibly by Charles Horner ( the maker's marks are indistinct because of the pattern but I think it is CH )

A pretty miniature basket of embossed and pierced silver fitted with an emery cushion

The case has some stains but is in good condition with no breaks
