Vivianite

VivianiteThis piece was collected in 2000, when Huanuni had a short, but prosperous boom of specimens. I personally obtained this piece at the mine on one of my first trips to Bolivia. I kept it as a memento of those early years visiting Bolivia, but its time for it to find a new home. A fairly sharp, GEM quality, highly lustrous, rich emerald green, crystal with a beautiful termination with minor golden Siderite and matrix. A great quality piece from Huanuni,

The piece truly looks better in person as Ferberite is a difficult species to accurately photograph

It’s amazingly well-formed

as it has an interesting chemistry

Despite its simple chemistry

colorless prismatic Quartz crystals which are included unique and eye-catching “phantoms” of metallic golden Pyrite floating near the terminations of the crystals

which many collectors and dealers have dubbed the “Holy Grail” on minerals

The color might be a bit on the lighter side

and the “drillbit” habit is next to impossible to find in my experience
