A small glass 'gem picture' needle case /needle book. c1870A glass needle case with a picture of St John's College (Oxford) on the back and the college coat of arms on the front. The spine is gold tooled leather and the interior is lined in a salmon pink watered silk. There are loops to take a few tools at the back bodkins etc. and a piece of cloth for loose needles and pins. The glass is in very good condition with no damage. There are very small spots on the edges that sparkle when viewed at an angle but

The inlay is in good order no losses or restoration

Inside there's another floral scrap in the lid and a red tartan patterned 'pull out' containing the needle packets which is backed with patterned gold paper
