Quartz “cast” after Anhydrite

Quartz “cast” after AnhydriteA beautiful small cabinet sized specimen from the famous Silver Point Mine that produced some of the most well known Quartz casts from the state. These specimens have been labeled as being Quartz after Baryte pseudomorphs but, given the fact that Baryte is chemically inert and nearly impossible to dissolve, it is almost certain that these pseudomorphs are Quartz replacing Anhydrite. Finally, it appears that somebody else is on board with me as I read

but now it's defined as a variety of either Orthoclase or Microcline depending upon the habit (monoclinic or triclinic)

A wonderful display specimen from the famous Black Cloud mine featuring highly vitreous rhombohedra of cream-colored Dolomite – some of which are oriented into a spherical aggregate at the top of the specimen – which are sitting atop beautifully contrasting silvery-blue Quartz on black Sphalerite matrix

Wires of this thickness and quality with such great visual appeal are few and far between from Porco

polychrome Tourmaline crystal with Albite from the most famous Tourmaline locality in Pakistan

but the main Amazonite crystals on the top of the piece are well-terminated and look nice when viewing from above

There is a contact along the termination

This piece actually FEATURES the elusive Anhydrite which

I must point out that these crystals of Vauxite show the most electric neon blue color that I've seen for the species
