He was a German Cross winner while with the Eisenbahn Pionier Regiment 5 in 1942. You can see him wearing his medal in many of these photos of him on the railroad sites. The exterior shell is in good condition with original paint and only a few small dings

The 30 mm tail thread could be changed into a 40mm one using an adapter ring Mod 1889
