SOLD.......A cut glass ink well from a fitted dressing box. HM. 1831An excellent quality cut glass inkwell which would have been part of a set of fittings in a Regency gentleman's dressing box. The silver gilt is hall marked for London 1831 but there's no maker's mark. The piece is engraved in a geometric design and monogrammed with the initials possibly MV? with a baron's coronet above. The key shape is the locking mechanism which secures the cork bung in the glass ink bottle. In excellent condition. 1. 5 x 1. 5 x 1.

The steel end is a typical spade shape

fork and spoon in their original red leather case

5 inches x just under an inch

one end is labelled McPherson in the usual gold on black

There was revival in the 19th century-particularly in America- of an old ritual where a widows tears were caught in a bottle and then tipped on the husband's grave on the anniversary of the death

A silver bladed folding knife and fork used eat cut soft fruit

In excellent condition-very crisp probably never used

Inside there are two sheets of cloth for loose needles and maroon ribbon ties

It is also initialed on one corner JMC

In excellent condition- there is a very shallow indent which shows up in the photographs but camera flash has made it look more prominent than it is

the lid and spine are decorated with floral scraps- the spine with the phrase 'Wishing You A Happy Birthday' in the middle of it
