SOLD…..A silver pen / pencil. Wilmot & Co maker. mid 19thcA silver mechanical pencil and dip pen. The hexagonal barrel is engraved with spots and lines and the end is a waffle patterned silver seal. It is in working order as the propelling pin retracts. It is stamped on the end Wilmot & Co. c 1850 8. 5 cm long closed 3. 5 inches Stock no. KL28

The shield is that found on the 1814 pattern Household Cavalry sword -the type used on the battlefield at Waterloo

The whole piece is metal with the pins fitting in two rows of holes

The slightly oval handle is carved with diagonals and has a short neck

edged with gold thread holding leaves of matching cloth stuck with needles

There's no damage but the cork had lost its leading edge so has been patched using a new piece

The steel sliders are particularly nice being wired with tiny steel beads
