Description
Parodia buiningiiParodia buiningii Also known as Notocactus. An attractive globular cactus with strong ribs and sharp spines. The spines are tricolored! They are black at the base, dark red in the middle, and yellow at the tips. I don't know of another cactus like it! Stays small and will clump in time. Produces big yellow flowers with a purple stigma. Requires general cactus care. Protect from frost. You will receive a plant shown in the last image or one similar.
It tends to bloom more regularly than most Stapeliads

but the hair is the main attraction
This is the smallest form of the species
The stems are thornless
The points are somewhat sharp but not that bad to deal with
care should be taken in places with wet winters as it is most cold tolerant when dry
These are seed grown plants so every one is slightly different
Similar care to the other leafy Madagascar species
Flowers are purple-pink
