A late medieval, gilt brass thimble. Nuremberg c1580A decorated medieval brass thimble made in Nuremberg at the end of the 16th century. It has retained its gilt finish but has a small split on the rim. It has a band of decoration which look like a repeat of a leaf pattern and a there's a maker's mark at the start of the knurling. Condition Fair considering it's age. 2cm tall. Stock no. LN04

The rest isn't flexible but is riveted to a plain back plate of steel

A travelling leather inkwell mounted with an engraved and monogrammed silver top which is hall marked JV (James Vickery) and dated London 1864

The hall mark is for Birmingham 1831

The pearls on these are probably synthetic as the pins are steel rather than the gold ones I've had before
