Model 1840 Cavalry "Wrist Breaker" Saber GS00303Initially used during the Mexican American War by the US Cavalry. Production ceased around the mid 1850's and they were then used by the Union Cavalry during the Civil War. McClellan carried this sword at the front and many of these swords were then also used by the Confederacy. Existing leather grip shows the waring of the original leather, however it is wrapped with the original brass wire. Both Ricasso's are unmarked. The blade shows stains on both

In the center of the fixture are brass sculptures of three women

It measures 66" tall 34 3/4" wide and 18" deep
