Michele et Patrice Rion, Chambolle Musigny Charmes(from 65+ year old vines; 25% whole clusters). Slightly more prominent though by no means dominant wood sets off a spicier array of poached plum, black raspberry, violet and rose petal. There is both more volume and richness to the seductively textured and concentrated but intense medium weight plus flavors that coat the palate with dry extract on the impressively persistent, well balanced and solidly complex finale. Excellent.

Medium bodied with some dryness in the mouth

showing a very gamey character on the nose along with some leaf mulch and cigar tobacco

This is a stunning Chenin Blanc with a balanced structure and wide array of citrus

coal-like texture and savoury character

this should also be approachable young if that’s your preference

as well as rock-star concentration and muscle

This is one wine where I have encountered better bottles

followed nine days later by the first lot of Cabernet Sauvignon

white flowers and nougat
