SOLD…….A patch pin cushion made of triangles of silk. c1860An attractive patch pin cushion made of 20 small triangles of coloured silk decoratively stuck with old pins. It was probably made as a tour de force of the needle woman who made it rather than for any practical purpose as the pins show no sign of ever being removed and replaced. It is quite heavy so could be filled with sawdust or possibly emery. The silks are in excellent condition with no holes and the threads are firm. c1860 4cm x 4cm 1. 5 x 1. 5

It is stamped CH for Charles Horner

It is small and has none of the gilt decoration which would identify it as Palais Royal

It is in good condition with no cracks or chips just some scratches in the finish and a little fading of the print on the front

The engraving is still quite sharp and well defined and there are no splits or solder

Inside it is lined in red cloth

The tools are a dip pen

The ribbon is all there including the little turned bone end stop and it is also printed with a leaf pattern below the numbers

They are unusual in that they are quite squat ( please see measurements ) and that the bases screw into the brass stems

Inside it is lined in pink paper and fitted with divisions for cotton reels etc
