1970s Full Moonstone Ring

1970s Full Moonstone RingStriking vintage moonstone ring dating from the 1970s. The stone displays a vivid blue adularescence (the optical effect whereby it appears to shimmer and glow from within) in the clear patches between swirling clouds of white natural inclusions that twist and brood. Large silver leaves are applied to the shoulders, well proportioned in relation to the gigantic centre stone. It probably originated in central America. Era: Vintage, circa 1970 Ring

has been set within an explosion of meticulously textured gold - a starburst

but in heraldry

featuring carved flower and foliate motifs heavily influenced by early 19th century naturalistic styles
